Association of Model Agents Launches Website
Yasmin Le Bon Interview On ‘Being a Model'
February 16th 2009, London: The Association of Model Agents (AMA), the trade association of the UK model industry, has launched its first website in advance of London Fashion Week.
The domain is at www.associationofmodelagents.org
The site will host an exclusive interview with Yasmin le Bon, designed to give aspiring models and their parents an insight into what a career in modelling is like and how to make the right decisions on a range of issues from choosing a reputable agent through to taking responsibility for looking after yourself.
The WEB site also provides
contact information for all AMA member agencies in the UK
links to other fashion industry organisations, regulators and others such as the British Fashion Council, Equity, and BEAT
AMA’s code of practice and membership criteria for member agencies
Laurie Kuhrt, Chairman of the AMA, says:
“Modelling is an exciting career but it isn’t right for everyone. Our aim on the new website is to give models more information so they can make informed choices about critical issues which may affect them. We also want the site to develop as a ‘sign post’ for models who want information or help with concerns or problems including their health.”
Hilary Riva, Chief Executive, British Fashion Council, says:
"This is a positive step forward for models and the modelling industry. The AMA represents nearly all of this country’s leading agencies; this site gives a voice to the modelling industry, professional advice to those wanting to enter the industry, and through the Code of Practice knowledge to know what is and isn’t acceptable practice."
Susan Ringwood, Chief Executive, Beat, says:
"Beat congratulates the AMA on this new website, which will give anyone involved or interested in the model industry access to information, support and advice.”
Simultaneously, the AMA is announcing that it has negotiated a corporate contract with Nuffield Health, the UK’s largest and longest standing healthcare charity, which offers all models registered with members of the Association of Model Agents discounted access to Nuffield Health’s health assessment services as well as its national network of Fitness and Wellbeing Centres.
